How much notice you need to give

  • Month-to-month tenancy: Your signed, written notice must reach us on or before the first day of a tenancy month, and your tenancy then ends on the last day of that month. If your rent is due on the 1st, notice we receive by March 1 ends your tenancy on March 31. Notice that arrives later ends it at the end of the following month.
  • Fixed-term lease: It ends on the date in your lease, and you do not need to give notice. If you would like to stay on or leave early, talk to us first.
  • Every adult on the lease should sign the notice. If someone else is on your lease, name them below and we will ask them to confirm by email.

These are the rules under Alberta’s Residential Tenancies Act. Special rules can apply, for example where domestic violence is involved; see Service Alberta’s guide to ending a tenancy.

Your notice counts from the day we receive it. Keep our confirmation email as your record.
