Jimmy Homes Apply now

This policy explains what personal information Jimmy Homes collects through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act.

Who we are

Jimmy Homes owns and manages the rental building at 15404 21 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta. You can reach us at info@jimmyhomes.ca.

What we collect, and why

Enquiries and viewing requests. Your name, email address and, if you give them, your phone number, the suite you are interested in, your move-in date, times that suit you for a viewing and your message. We use them to answer you and arrange a viewing.

Rental applications. Your name, contact details, current and previous addresses, current landlords, employment and income, the number of people who will live in the suite, pets, vehicles, smoking, an emergency contact and any reference you name. We use them to decide whether to offer you a tenancy and, if we do, to prepare your lease and contact someone in an emergency. With the consent you give on the application, we contact the landlords, employer and references you name. If you ask us to, and consent to it, we obtain a consumer credit report about you; your date of birth is collected only in that case, and used only to match the report to you. You may provide your own credit report instead.

Residents. When you send a maintenance request or a notice to vacate, we receive your name, suite number, contact details and what you tell us. We use them to carry out the repair, to arrange entry to your suite, and to manage the end of your tenancy and the return of your security deposit.

What we never ask for on this website. Your Social Insurance Number, your bank account or card details, or copies of your identification.

Website analytics and the map

This website does not use advertising cookies, and nothing it records is sold or traded. It uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives the pages you view, your device and browser type, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. You can switch it off for every site you visit with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

The maps on this website are provided by Google Maps. When a map loads, your browser contacts Google, which receives your IP address under Google’s privacy policy.

Who sees it

Only the Jimmy Homes staff who handle leasing and the building. We share information outside Jimmy Homes only to do what you asked us to: a credit reporting agency for a credit check you consented to, the references you named, and contractors who need your name, suite number and phone number to carry out a repair. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not send marketing email.

How it reaches us, and how we protect it

Forms on this website are sent over an encrypted connection and delivered to us by email through a secure automated service. They are stored in a mailbox protected by access controls. We keep paper and electronic tenancy records secured, and limit access to the people who need them.

How long we keep it

Enquiries, and applications that do not lead to a tenancy, are kept only as long as they are reasonably needed and are then securely deleted. Records of a tenancy are kept for as long as we need them for legal and business purposes, including the time limits under Alberta’s Residential Tenancies Act and tax rules, and are then securely destroyed.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw a consent you have given (subject to legal or contractual limits, and with the understanding that we may then be unable to assess an application). Write to info@jimmyhomes.ca and we will respond within the time the Personal Information Protection Act allows. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

If we change this policy we will update it on this page.
